Dr. Mohamed Janabi

Country Director

 

Mohamed is a senior cardiologist, personal physician to His Excellency, former President Jakaya Kikwete, and director of the cardiology centre at Muhimbili hospital complex. Mohamed is our guru when it comes to advancing medical care.  Mohamed is based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

Faith joined the JKCI team two years ago and has since made a big impact. Faith is organised, structured and knows hot to get things done. Our volunteers are in safe hands with Faith!

Dr. Peter O'Brien

Medical Director

 

Peter is a senior cardiologist based in Lynchburg VA. His enthusiasm and energy are contagious. Peter was one of the pioneers in creating the first government run Cath Lab in Tanzania. He has now set his goal to contribute to establishing the first centre of excellence for cardiology in Tanzania. Peter is based in Lynchburg, Virginia, USA.

 

Dr. Matthew Sackett

EP lead for our cardiology program in Tanzania

 

Matt is a cardiologist in Lynchburg, Virginia and is affiliated with Centra Lynchburg General Hospital. He received his medical degree from University of Virginia School of Medicine and has been in practice for more than 20 years. He has completed several trips to Tanzania and successfully implanted many devices and trained the team at JKCI to perform these complex interventions. He collaborated closely with Medtronic US to get the devices donated. 

Mollie Mullaney - Peadiatric Cardiac Nurse

Executive Director

 

Mollie is a pediatric cardiac nurse with over 10 years’ experience in Cardiac ICU’s, Cardiac Cath and EP labs, and in outpatient settings. She has experience in Cardiology, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Echocardiography, and in Cardiac Device care and follow-up (pacemakers and ICD’s). Mollie also has considerable experience volunteering in Africa, including Ethiopia and Tanzania.

Dr. Mazen Albaghdadi

Director of Research Programs

 

Mazen is an interventional cardiologist and physician-scientist from the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, MA. He greatly enjoys working alongside his friends and colleagues in Tanzania to advance both clinical and research programs at the JKCI. Mazen is currently focused on implementing data-driven quality improvement initiatives in the Cardiac Cath Lab at the JKCI and developing cardiovascular disease and risk factor screening programs in Tanzania.
