Mazen Albaghdadi, MD
Medical Director

Mazen is the Director of Cardiac Catheterization and Associate Program Director Cardiology Fellowship with Naples Heart Institute (Naples Healthcare System) in Naples, Florida . He greatly enjoys working alongside his friends and colleagues in Tanzania to advance both clinical and research programs at the JKCI. Mazen is currently focused on implementing data-driven quality improvement initiatives in the Cardiac Cath Lab at the JKCI and developing cardiovascular disease and risk factor screening programs in Tanzania.
Peter O'Brien, MD

Peter is a senior cardiologist based in Lynchburg, Virginia. His enthusiasm and energy are contagious. Peter was one of the pioneers in creating the first government run Cath Lab in Tanzania. He has now set his goal to contribute to establishing the first centre of excellence for cardiology in Tanzania. Peter is based in Lynchburg, Virginia, USA.

Doyle serves as Treasurer of Madaktari Africa Board of Directors, and as a liaison with our partners in Africa. He is a skilled business executive with an extensive career in International Business. Doyle has served as CEO of several international companies for over 30 years, and his strengths include strategic negotiations among diverse cultures.
Dilan Ellegala, MD
Founder, Madaktari Africa

Dilan is a neurosurgeon and founder of Madaktari Africa. His neurosurgical expertise is in complex brain surgery and leveraging new technology to advance brain and spine care. He is also known for advancing global neurosurgery and global health initiatives. Recognizing an unmet need for medical education in rural areas of Africa, Dilan founded Madaktari Africa. He also was also the founding dean of the Center for Global Health at the Medical University of South Carolina. His groundbreaking work in global neurosurgery development is documented in "A Surgeon in the Village: An American Doctor Teaches Brain Surgery in Africa," by Pulitzer-nominated journalist Tony Bartleme. Dilan is a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons an the Congress of Neurological Surgeons.
Mike Hecomovich

With over thirty years of progressive business experience that ranges from Fortune 100 companies to small start-up ventures, Michael Hecomovich has had the opportunity to develop a broad base of skills in general management, sales, marketing, and business development. He has been involved in the start-up and growth of eleven different companies. He also has experience in turnaround and growth ventures in positions of general management, sales, marketing, and operations at all levels. As a result, he has an in-depth understanding of the issues regarding new companies, business development and leadership. Mike was the founder and Chairman/CEO of Global Marketing Services, the exclusive sales and marketing organization that represented IBM Printing Supplies in North and South America, Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) for ten years. Currently his focus is on his family’s commercial real estate business.

Khuzeima is an interventional cardiologist with JKCI. He has experience in all echocardiographic modalities and cardiac catherization procedures including coronary angiography and angioplasty, peripheral intervantionals, and device implantations. He is involved in conducting research focused on addressing the care of acute coronary syndrome from multiple perspectives and has contributed several publications on the diagnosis and management of patients with acute coronary syndrome.

Mollie Mullaney, RN, BSN, CCRN-K
Peadiatric Cardiac Nurse

Mollie is a pediatric cardiac nurse with over 10 years’ experience in Cardiac ICU’s, Cardiac Cath and EP labs, and in outpatient settings. She has experience in Cardiology, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Echocardiography, and in Cardiac Device care and follow-up (pacemakers and ICD’s). Mollie also has considerable experience volunteering in Africa, including Ethiopia and Tanzania.
Arun Nayar

Mr. Nayar currently serves on the board of directors of GFL Environmental Inc. (NYSE: GFL), the board of directors of Amcor PLC (NYSE: AMCR) and the board of directors of Mastech Digital Inc. (NYSE: MHH). Mr. Nayar is also Senior Advisor to McKinsey and Company and serves on the Global Advisory Council of ServiceNow, Inc. (NYSE: NOW). Previously, Mr. Nayar served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Tyco International, a multi-industrial company, where he led the value creation for its stakeholders, and was responsible for managing financial risks and overseeing its global finance functions, including tax, treasury, mergers and acquisitions, audit and investor relations.
Matthew Sackett, MD
EP Lead for Cardiology Programs in Tanzania

Matt is a cardiologist in Lynchburg, Virginia and is affiliated with Centra Lynchburg General Hospital. He received his medical degree from University of Virginia School of Medicine and has been in practice for more than 20 years. He has completed several trips to Tanzania and successfully implanted many devices and trained the team at JKCI to perform these complex interventions. He collaborated closely with Medtronic US to get the devices donated.
